Our Mission Statement:  Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless (MESH) is a local, faith-based organization dedicated to engaging the Montclair community to provide basic and essential services to Montclair’s most vulnerable homeless adults.

Preparing a mealThroughout the fall, winter and spring months, Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless (MESH) partners with churches and synagogues in the Montclair community to serve thousands of nourishing evening meals for homeless and near-homeless residents of Montclair. During the summer months of July and August, MESH Cafés are held at the American Legion, Post 251 in Montclair, New Jersey. Available six days a week, each MESH Café has it own ambience but all offer nourishing food and good dinner conversations with individuals and families from our community.

To volunteer at one of our MESH Cafés, click on the Program Services above link to locate the contact information of the MESH Café that interests you. Volunteer opportunities for the MESH Café must be approved by the Volunteer Coordinator of the Café. All of the Volunteer Coordinator listings can be found on the MESH passports (at the Programs Services link above). All volunteers must complete a volunteer application, supply two references and submit to a Café orientation and training session before volunteer placement can begin. For Volunteer placements during the summer months at the American Legion, Post 251, please contact the MESH office (862) 621-9488.

It is recommended that volunteer requests be submitted at least two weeks prior to your selected date(s). Please note that Thanksgiving and Christmas are sought after days for volunteer requests. Requests for these dates should be submitted a month in advance. For everyone's health and safety, we cannot permit unregistered volunteers at the MESH Café.
